ResolutionNumber:
M-05
Year: 2004 Title: INTEGRATING YOUTH LEADERSHIP AT GLOBAL DECISION-MAKING LEVELS Resolved:
WHEREAS both the 1995 and 1997 ICMs produced decisions that focused specifically on integrating youth within AI's movement through the section and structure level, but that integration did not happen;
WHEREAS the first International Youth Assembly took place in conjunction with the 2003 International Council Meeting and was overwhelmingly considered a success as a way to incorporate youth in the international decision-making process and seen as a vehicle for developing future leaders within the organization;
WHEREAS one of the primary goals of the ISP, as discussed at this year's ICM, is growth. The youth movement is a great place from which to spearhead this growth as they are the future, as well as the present, of the movement and they need to be empowered to fulfill the roles that they will necessarily have to assume;
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that at least one member delegate of the AIUSA ICM delegation will be a youth representative; and
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the AIUSA Board of Directors change the composition of the 2005 ICM delegation as follows: 4 General Membership delegates and alternates:
2 Board member delegates and alternates; and
2 Staff delegates and alternates. |
