Year: 2002
Title:   EXISTING INITIATIVES/EVENTS FUND

Resolved: Be it resolved, the AIUSA Board of Directors will allocate additional funds to the Special Initiatives Fund (SIF) to fund existing events. Be it further resolved, the SIF will determine the frequency (e.g., twice per year) to accept existing applications from AI local (community) and student groups for special events.

Implementation: The Administration and Development Committee of the Board will review this decision in August and the Board will vote on it at their September meeting. Linda Hartke stated that this decision may be enacted in fiscal year 2003 or 2004 at the board’s discretion as the Board will need to revise the terms of reference for the Special Inititiatives Fund (SIF) before this decision can be enacted.
Update: In collaboration with the Special Initiatives Funds (“SIF”) Committee, the Membership Mobilization Department allocated $10,000 towards the Existing Initiatives/Events Fund (“EIF”) to cover this new programmatic area. This allocation enables the SIF Committee to review existing events and provide them with additional funds if necessary. Additionally, the SIF Committee amended and updated its SIF proposal and application form to incorporate the EIF guidelines. Also, draft terms of reference have been submitted by the SIF Committee to the Board and the DED for Membership Mobilization review and approval
