Title:   AIUSA’s Democratic Processes: Designated Board Seat
Resolved:


Passed 95-7 by the Voting Plenary of the 2008 Annual General Meeting

from the membership in such forms as the resolutions process; and

[B] WHEREAS the membership of AIUSA has two main avenues into making policy for

the movement, namely by using this resolutions process and by participating in the

election of members of the Board of Directors; and

[C] WHEREAS an Annual General Meeting resolution is the primary formal process by

which the membership of AIUSA can make decisions that shall be binding on the AIUSA

Board; and

[D] WHEREAS the election of members of the Board of Directors should also be the

provenance of the membership and any substantive or major changes to this election

process should also be vetted by the membership;


[E] THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that the Board may change the bylaws to allow

the Board to designate one seat per election for bringing on a needed skill set.
