Title:   CHILDREN’S HUMAN RIGHTS
Resolved:

[A] WHEREAS children are arguably the most vulnerable victims of a wide range of human rights abuses; and

[B] WHEREAS children’s human rights issues have recently had a diminishing profile within AIUSA; and

[C] WHEREAS children’s human rights issues present unique opportunities to strengthen Amnesty International’s work throughout the world;

[D] THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED that AIUSA‘s Board of Directors create a committee to develop a plan for expansion of AIUSA’s work on children’s rights.

[E] As an initial effort to raise the profile of Children’s human rights, there should be a clear link from the main AIUSA website to the children’s rights section of the website with regular updates.

[F] BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the AIUSA Board of Directors shall:

1) write the International Secretariat (IS) requesting that the IS provide assurances, in writing, that the Economic, Social, and Cultural Rights global campaign on human rights and poverty will include specific actions on children’s human rights; and

2) report to the membership prior to January 1, 2008 as to the response of the International Secretariat regarding this request.
