What do LSN members do?

  • Work for the release of imprisoned lawyers and other prisoners of conscience about whom there are legal concerns;

  • Work to end impunity for human rights abuses by supporting war crimes tribunals, the International Criminal court, and bringing torturers to justice through US courts;

  • Work to abolishing the death penalty in the United States;

  • Lobby for legislation which relates to Amnesty’s concerns;

  • Promote ratification of and strict adherence to international human rights standards;

  • Raise awareness in the legal community of violations of human rights throughout the world by organizing conferences, meetings and seminars and publishing articles in professionals

  • Encourage national, state, and local associateions to take action against violations of human rights;

  • Undertake research projects on domestic, international, and comparative law relating to human rights issues for Amnesty campaigns and programs.
