Internships in the Identity-Based Discrimination Program
Amnesty International USA seeks committed, energetic people with a special interest in safeguarding the human rights of individuals who are discriminated against as a result of their race, sexual orientation, gender identity, or religion for unpaid internships in our Identity-Based Discrimination Program based in Washington DC.
Projects will focus on monitoring human rights abuses based on race, sexual orientation, gender identity, and religion both within the US and abroad. The program also formulates pro-active responses to hold authorities accountable and to prevent further abuse, and will often work with other AIUSA programs, regional offices, the International Secretariat, Amnesty activists and fellow human rights groups to safeguard the human rights of those who are discriminated. Special focus is placed on police brutality, racial profiling, marriage equality and the decriminalization of homosexuality.
It's a great opportunity to learn more about LGBT issues and other human rights that AIUSA is committed to defending. People of color are strongly encouraged to apply.
