About the Filmmaker
Parvez Sharma is a Muslim gay filmmaker born and raised in India. As a journalist, he has worked with award-winning filmmakers and on programming for BBC World Television, the Discovery Channel, Star News and the World Bank. Sharma is also a regular contributor to the The Huffington Post. As an activist he was instrumental in setting up the first organized LGBTQ effort in the Indian state of West Bengal, setting benchmarks for many other LGBT organizing efforts around the sub-continent. A Jihad for Love is his first feature-length documentary.
