Roles and Responsibilities

The AIUSA Nominating Committee is conducting an intensive, nationwide search to assemble a qualified, diverse, and representative slate of candidates for the 2014 Board of Directors election. The Nominating Committee is searching for candidates who are willing and able to dedicate considerable time and energy to upholding the AIUSA mandate, and growing the human rights movement during a three-year term.
The Board of Directors develops a clear vision for the organization through policies that set goals and priorities for AIUSA. Each Board member is responsible for being an active participant in the work of the Board of Directors; providing stewardship to the organization; serving as an ambassador for AIUSA; establishing, evaluating and revising organizational policies to realize the organizational vision; establishing appropriate and constructive working relationships with staff; and, ensuring the financial health of the organization through fiscal oversight and support of fund raising efforts.

Application Deadline

Applicants are asked to submit a completed questionnaire and a résumé by June 20, 2014 at 5pm EDT, to Michelle Menzel, Board and Governance Liaison, at A cover letter is optional. Please ask your regional representative (list below) for the questionnaire if you are interested in applying.
The Nominating Committee will review all applications. You will receive notice of candidacy in November 2014. If elected by the membership in May 2015, your term will begin in June 2015.
