Two lawyers face renewed threats in relation to their work on a high profile murder case. One of them has also been subjected to a lawsuit in connection with her work.
The two refugees are at imminent risk of being deported. They are also about to be transferred to a guarded room, where they will have no possibility of contact with the outside world.
Farouk Abu Issa and Dr Amin Maki Medani were arrested by agents of the Sudanese National Intelligence and Security Services. They have been held incommunicado since then, without charge.
Zainab Al-Khawaja was sentenced on 9 December to one year and four months’ imprisonment for “insulting a public servant” and “destroying government property”.
