Three Egyptian activists are facing trial for taking part in a protest on 30 November 2013. The charges against them may arise solely from their opposition activism.
Ghazi Abbasi, Abdul-Reza Amir-Khanafereh, Abdul-Amir Mojaddami and Jasim Moghaddam Payam, have all been executed. All were members of Iran’s Ahwazi Arab minority.
Khaled Khalifa Mahmud, was sentenced to death in October 2009. His confession that was allegedly obtained under torture, he is at imminent risk of execution in Iraq.
Canadian-Iranian national Hamid Ghassemi-Shall, who had been sentenced to death in Iran in 2008, was released on 23 September after spending over five years in prison.
