The five-year sentence handed down to two women protesters for attempting to enter the Formula 1 circuit during a protest at the 2013 Bahrain Grand Prix was upheld on 31 August 2014.
Dr. Sa'eed Mothaher Habib al-Samahiji was arrested on 1 July to serve a one-year sentence for “insulting the King of Bahrain”. He is a prisoner of conscience.
The trial of Ahmad Mshaima’ has resumed despite allegations of him being tortured in detention. There is been no known investigation into the matter and Ahmad's health is now deteriorating.
Photojournalist Ahmad Fardan was charged with “participating in a public gathering.” He has been released on bail, but alleges that he was tortured by security forces.
