Zainab Al-Khawaja was sentenced on 9 December to one year and four months’ imprisonment for “insulting a public servant” and “destroying government property”.
She was released on 19 November after more than a month in detention for ripping up a picture of the King in court. The verdict in this case is expected on 4 December.
Women’s rights activist Ghada Jamsheer was arrested on 15 September on 10 charges of “defamation via her Twitter account”. She is a prisoner of conscience.
