Prisoner of conscience Mohammed al-Bajadi is being retried on the same charges for which he was sentenced to a four-year prison term in 2012. This retrial may well result in a harsher sentence.
He is a human rights defender. If convicted he could be sentenced to up to two years’ imprisonment and a heavy fine. If imprisoned, he would be considered a prisoner of conscience.
At least 4 men, a 17-year-old boy, and 9 women have been arrested. They could face a life sentence. Amnesty International considers them to be prisoners of conscience.
Mirsobir Khamidkariev was sentenced to eight years’ imprisonment on extremism charges following an unfair trial. There are credible allegations that he was tortured in detention.
