Registering to Vote
To be eligible to elect board members in the annual elections, or to vote on resolutions at AIUSA regional conferences and the AGM, you must be a registered member of AIUSA. There is no minimum voting age. The registration deadlines are published in Connect (AIUSA's monthly mailing).
There are two ways to register:
- Become an individual member of AIUSA. National members receive their own mailings, newsletters and voting rights. To qualify to vote individually, you must either:
- Have paid membership dues between January 1 the year prior to the board election or AGM and February 1 in the same year as the election or AGM (for example, between January 1, 2004 and February 1, 2005). To join or renew your membership, please visit
http://www.amnestyusa.org/join or send dues of $25 ($15 student/limited income) to:- AIUSA MEMBER SERVICES

- If you cannot afford to pay dues, complete a Dues Waiver form before March 1 before the AGM (for example, March 1, 2005 for the 2005 AGM) or September 1 before the regional conference (e.g., September 1, 2004 for the 2004 Regional Conference). Dues Waiver forms must be received by Member Services at the above address by these dates. If you have questions, please contact Kim Ruffin at (212) 633-4216 or kruffin@aiusa.org. Each local and student group receives one vote to be exercised by a designated individual at the AGM. Group voting authorization forms are enclosed in the February issue of Connect and must be presented to vote.
