Tickets can be purchased in advance by calling 202-857-7700 or by visiting the box office. Online ticket purchases will start on 9/1 at the National Geographic website. Advance purchase is recommended to avoid disappointment at the door.

About the Film Festival: The Amnesty International Film Festival is proud to present its second annual program, co-sponsored by National Geographic, in Washington, D.C, September 14-16, 2006. This year’s festival features eight films, on some of the most important issues facing the global community. Challenging and inspiring, these stories help us understand what it means to be a citizen of the world today. The festival celebrates the significant contributions made by filmmakers worldwide to the awareness and understanding of human rights issues.

Amnesty International Film Festival is dedicated to showcasing some of the world’s best documentary and fiction films related to human rights. Through the art of film, with its unique ability to bring the viewer in touch with reality, the Festival strives to expose new audiences to human rights abuses occurring around the globe, including in the United States. Using the resources of Amnesty International, we strive to provide our audiences with concrete opportunities to take action against these abuses.

The Amnesty International Film Festival started in 1991 and now screens annually in Seattle, Salt Lake City, West Hollywood, Pittsburgh and Asheville, NC, as well as on dozens of university and high school campuses around the US, with our Festival OnCampus program.

We hope to offer our communities an opportunity to bare witness to, and to honor our collective struggles for freedom. And should some who attend be moved to action, Amnesty International is ready to help you get involved. For each film being screened, the Amnesty International Film Festival has gathered related news, research and action opportunities.
