"Something Other than Other" explores the limitations on strict definitions of race. Through the experience of one multiracial family the film suggests that the value of a person should rise above the box one checks on the census. The parents of Quinn Henry-Chia discuss their heritage and their hopes for their son as he grows up. After his birth, both parents faltered in filling out various forms about their son; to which race does he belong? Through their dialogue, they present a fresh perspective on the issue of race and how one chooses to define oneself
