Get Crafty! Join AIUSA's "cross petition" to the Mexican and Guatemalan governments for Day of the Dead!

Day of the Dead, commemorated in Mexico and Guatemala on November 2, is a major event during which families celebrate their ancestors by visiting and sprucing up grave sites, welcoming the souls of the dead into their homes with altars and offerings of flowers and food, and engaging in other festivities.

We encourage you to help commemorate the Day of the Dead by participating in AIUSA's "cross petition"- creating and signing crosses made of art supplies that will make up a "cross petition" protesting the murders of women in Juárez /Chihuahua and in Guatemala. The petitions call on the Mexican and Guatemalan governments to take steps to end the femicides and will be delivered to Mexican and Guatemalan embassies and consulates on or around November 2.

Since 1993, almost 400 women and girls have been murdered and more than 70 remain missing in Ciudad Juárez and Chihuahua, Mexico. In Guatemala, 2200 women have been killed since 2001. Exceptional cruelty and sexual violence characterize many of the killings.
