International Women's Day Conference "BASTA DE VIOLENCIA! Domestic Violence: Stop it before it begins"
Amnesty International USA, through it's worldwide campaign "Stop Violence Against Women" (SVAW), and in partnership with Casa de las Madres, advocacy and shelter for victims of domestic violence; CORA: Community overcoming relationship abuse; and CALCASA: California coalition against sexual assault; invite all public to attend the conference "Basta de Violencia!. Domestic Violence: Stop it before it begins."
The conference will be held at the main theatre of Caņada Community College in Redwood City, CA. The topic is domestic violence, how to prevent it before it begins, information on what to do if you become or are already a victim of domestic violence, and actions for the community to eliminate violence against women and children.
The conference will open with the screening of Amnesty International USA "Stop violence against women" campaign action video, followed by information and resources on how to become involved defending women's rights. After that, representatives from CORA and CALCASA will speak about their programs and conduct sessions of questions and answers. To close, La Casa de las Madres will present an interactive presentation on how to stop domestic violence and there will be a small workshop for the attendees.
The event will be conducted in English, but materials and information brochures will also be available in Spanish. There is no entry fee and refreshments will be served.
