Massive protests erupted throughout Ethiopia. In response, government security forces opened fire, killing and wounding many, incarcerating even more. In the months to follow, members of an independent Inquiry Commission responsible for the publication of a report exposing the extreme use of force of Ethiopian troops became victims of harassment, intimidation, and violence themselves.
