Guantanamo Bay Prison Cell Tour

Amnesty International USA is touring an exact replica of a Guantanamo Bay prison cell, in support of AIUSA's "Denounce Torture" Campaign. The 1,650-pound cell is stopping in Portland and will be on display at Monument Square June 5-7.
In connection with the tour, the Greater Portland Chapter of Amnesty International and a coalition including the Social Action Committee of the Allen Avenue Unitarian Universalist Church, the Maine Civil Liberties Union, Peace Action Maine, the NAACP, Veterans for Peace, and Pax Christi are presenting these activities:
"END THE INJUSTICE" exhibit by the local chapter of Amnesty International. On display the month of May. Entrance corridor of Portland Public Library on Monument Square.
"FAITHFUL VOICES: EXPLORING BELIEFS IN ACTION" readings of work by Ed Schwartz, based on writings of Emma Goldman, Dorothy Day, Myles Horton, Martin Luther King and others. Performed by the Senior Players troupe of the USM Osher Lifelong Learning Institute. Saturday, May 31 at 4:00 p.m. Meg Perry Center of Peace Action Maine, 644 Congress Street, Portland.
