During September 2008, Illinois AIUSA groups participated in a mobilization week to raise awareness about Amnesty's work throughout Illinois. Several local groups conducted outreach at house parties and fall festivals during the mobilization week. As part of the mobilization week, the Midwest Regional Office conducted a cluster meeting training for nearly two dozen student activists and faculty advisors at a northwest suburban Chicago high school. The training meeting focused on AIUSA's human rights agenda for the fall 2008 general elections and reviewed the Core Action Packet, a resource designed to help member activists in groups to craft their action agenda. The Illinois mobilization week concluded with an outreach event at the Pilsen Neighborhood Art Walk. The Pilsen Neighborhood Art Walk granted AIUSA a gallery space where photos and banners related to human rights and Amnesty International's work could be displayed.
