Education Under Fire: Film Screening and Panel on Human Rights in Iran

Part of Amnesty William and Mary's Unite 4 Humanity week of action for human rights, this film screening about the persecution of people connected to the Baha'i Institute for Higher Education in Iran. Baha'i is a global, peaceful faith founded in Iran that has had thousands killed under religious persecution, and are discriminated against to this day. The Baha'i Institute for Higher Education is the only higher education opportunity for Baha'is in Iran, and they are being targeted by the government. Professors and students have been imprisoned for trying to educate and be educated.

The documentary is ONLY HALF AN HOUR and is incredibly informative.

A panel discussion will follow. A graduate student from the University of Maryland will talk about her research concerning the BIHE, and a BIHE graduate whose family member appears in the film will also be there.
