Diversity at the AGM
Come to the AGM and Celebrate Amnesty's work on Diversity
Multiculturalism is one of the most important organizational goals that Amnesty International USA has! The work on diversity has to be constant and progressive, as the work on Human Rights is, and the AGM is a great opportunity for learning more about it.
For this year's AGM, we have prepared the following diversity related activities:

The group size is limited to 30 people. We strongly encourage people from diverse communities to apply.
If you are interested in attending, please apply by March 7th, so we can send you the pre-workshop reading materials with enough time. To apply or to learn more, please email or call Domenico Romero at dromero@aiusa.org or 212.633.4297.
2. Brown Bag Lunch: The Ralph J. Bunche Fellowship, a strategic tool in AIUSA's work on Diversity. Saturday April 5th, 12:30 pm to 1:45 pm
Come to learn more about AIUSA's Ralph J. Bunche Fellowship, which has as goal to open opportunities for people of color to have an experience on international Human Rights work. At this brown bag lunch, you'll have the opportunity to learn and more about the fellowship and about this year's fellows and their projects:
Andrea Smith is a Native-American Bunche fellow with the Research Department, she is conducting a research on the issue of violence against Native-American Women.
Christina Vargas is a Peruvian-American Bunche Fellow for the Western Region, building Latino constituency in Southern California by involving these communities in AIUSA's Campaign Against Discrimination and other relevant issues.
Domenico Romero is a Mexican Bunche Fellow for the AGM Program, doing outreach with diverse communities at the AGM cities and organizing projects to strengthen AIUSA's internal diversity
3. Meet and Greet: Introduction To Amnesty International USA Saturday April 5th, 10:15 am-12:15 pm
This networking session will be an opportunity for people interested in human rights from the Pittsburgh community to meet informally with staff to learn more about AI and the different programs in AI-USA. The session runs opposite the working parties and is intended for AGM attendees new to AI or those who are ineligible to vote.
4. Latin@ Working Group Saturday April 5th, 4:00 pm to 5:30 pm
The Latin@ community is the largest minority in the US (13% of the population) and AIUSA is working in order to develop the best ways for doing outreach to this community and respond to their needs. A group of Latin@ members and staff will meet in this working group to analyze the situation, achievements and challenges of the Latin@ participation in AIUSA, and the next steps that have to be taken.
