Candlelight Procession to Andy Warhol Museum
Despite near-freezing temperatures, hundreds of AGM participants gathered outside on Saturday night to kick off the AGM's candlelight procession to end the death penalty in Pennsylvania. After a rousing speech by the director of Pennsylvania Abolitionists United Against the Death Penalty, the crowd marched silently through the streets of Pittsburgh with signs and placards calling for an end to capital punishment.
The march concluded at the Andy Warhol Museum where participants were treated to remarks by Bianca Jagger and a musical performance by Seasia. At the conclusion of the scheduled events, the audience was invited to browse the museum's art collection. Appropriately, the museum's collection includes Warhol's series on the electric chair inspired by the execution of the Rosenbergs in 1953.
