WHAT IS THE AGM?
The Annual General Meeting (AGM) is a conference of USA Members of AI and their activist allies. The conference rotates to a different location in the United States each year.
| Pamela Johnson is the Acting Southen Regional Representative of the AGM Program Committee. |
The conference brings together human rights activists from all regions of the country and internationally to evaluate current goals and develop strategies towards the prevention of human rights violations around the world; to educate, inspire, and promote outreach to membership; and to increase visibility of the goals and mission of AIUSA. It provides an opportunity for members and staff to strategize together to make AIUSA a more effective grassroots organization. Members vote on resolutions that develop the policy of the section.

"The challenge is really that so many people view globalization as purely an economic occurrence. The challenge for us is to somehow 're-balance' the conversation so that human rights, a global goal itself, becomes a part of that discussion again. If human rights are ignored in the globalization discussion, they will ignored in the globalization process."
