Voting at the AGM
Amnesty International is a grassroots organizations with systems in place that enable members to take an active part in decision-making. The AIUSA Resolutions Process is the formal mechanism through which AIUSA's members can directly affect policy at regional, national and international levels.
The Resolutions Process
In the Resolutions Process, a member or members of the organization formally present(s) an idea before the membership in the form of a resolution. This idea is then discussed, changed, and voted on during Working Parties and Voting Plenaries at regional conferences and then again at the AGM. This year, resolutions participants will discuss and vote on an important Strategic Planning resolution presenting the mission, vision, core values and strategic goals for the organization for the period of 2003-2006.
A National Resolutions Committee (aiusa-resol@aiusa.org) is in place to help members develop resolutions, educate members, and drive the resolutions process. The National resolutions Committee Chair also serves as member of the AGM Program Committee
