![]() NETWORKING AT THE AGM At the 2002 AGM, there will be formal and informal opportunities for you to meet other activists from around the country, guests from other Amnesty sections, speakers and panelists, and staff. Friday, April 19, 2002 Welcoming Reception: AIUSA Open House, 7:30 - 8:30 pm Welcome to our first AGM Open House! This will be an opportunity for you to get to know volunteer leaders and staff, other activist members, and the diversity of programs within AIUSA. Meeting rooms on the third and 28th floors of the hotel will be open for the event and light refreshments will be served. Move from room to room to interact with the different programs, pick up literature, mingle with active members and discuss aspects of the program. Participating programs:
A large, comfortable room at the hotel will be open for impromptu meetings and gatherings. The room will have chairs and tables in different configurations. There will be no audiovisual equipment or refreshments -- just a place to meet. There will be a signup board for meetings 10 people or more. Saturday, April 20, 2002 "Brown Bag" Lunches: 12:15 - 1:45 pm These are informal gatherings (over the lunch break) where you can learn about different AIUSA programs and discuss current projects. Light food will be served in some meetings and box lunches will be sold. Participating programs:
1) Student Activist Caucus This caucus of student members is organized by the National Campus Advisor Council and will be held at the nearby YWCA, 509 Seneca Street at 5th Avenue-- a few short blocks from the AGM hotel). Refreshments will be served. 2) Local/Community Group Caucus (organized by the Area Coordinator Steering Committee) Reception: Refugees Even After Death (Saturday evening, time TBA) Photographs of the Exhumations: The Clandestine Cemeteries of Guatemala AIUSA is sponsoring an exhibition of photographs by member activist Jonathan Moller. This is an extraordinary collection of photographs with moving text, including statements by the assassinated Bishop Juan Gerardi and an excerpt from the Guatemala "Truth Commission" report. The exhibition will be mounted at El Centro de la Raza on Beacon Hill. Free transportation to the event will be provided. More information will be available in the weeks to come. Networking Lounge: Open 8 pm - 12 am midnight This lounge will also be available Saturday evening. There will be a sign-up board for meetings 10 people or more.
