In Plain Sight

DVDS and curriculum guides now available!

Overview
In collaboration with WITNESS, Amnesty International USA is delighted to announce the launch of its new Human Rights Education program, In Plain Sight.

Consisting of six thought provoking DVDs and detailed lesson plans, the In Plain Sight Program provides educators with essential tools to effectively promote human rights within our secondary schools. Specific areas addressed include the juvenile justice system, child soldiers and gender inequalities.  These resources are available to schools and colleges throughout the USA and provide an invaluable tool for ensuring the effective promotion of human rights to a new generation of human rights activists.

Obtaining the materials
Thanks to the generous support of the Education Foundation of America, AIUSA and WITNESS are able to offer this exciting program for free.

To receive the In Plain Sight materials, please send an email to education@aiusa.org, including your full contact details.

Evaluating the materials
We are asking all who use these materials to complete a short feedback form. This can be accessed either by clicking here or by pasting the following link into your browser:

https://www.surveymonkey.com/s.aspx?sm=x7BO4Uw38lzEs_2b0q69fMhw_3d_3d

Although there will be ongoing evaluation, for the first stage of the project we are requesting that you aim to use at least one the lesson plans by May 1 2009 and that you complete the short feedback form by May 7 2009.

In-depth Evaluators
In addition to the feedback form, we are seeking a small number of educators who would be willing to participate in a more in depth evaluation process. This will involve:

  • A commitment to implement at least one of the modules by May 1 2009
  • Completion of a short questionnaire prior to using any of the modules
  • Reflections on using the modules and suggestions for improvements
  • Completion of a short quantitative survey
  • Completion of a short questionnaire after using the module(s).

All evaluation data should be completed by May 7 2009.

If you would like to be one of our In-depth evaluators, please indicate this in your email and we will contact you with further information.
