Domestic Human Rights Concerns
- "War on Terror"
Amnesty International is concerned that the US does not use the “war on terror” to commit human rights violations in the name of protecting America. The US must stand up for unalienable, universal human rights. Otherwise, those who wage war on human rights will have won the battle against freedom.
- TASERs
-
TASERs were designed and are currently marketed as a non-lethal alternative to deadly force, but statistics show that police are abusing the weapons and, in some cases, using TASERs in a manner that could constitute ill-treatment and torture. Amnesty International is calling for TASER use to be suspended pending a rigorous independent inquiry into their use and effects.

Since 1977, over 900 people have been executed in the USA; there are currently around 3,500 men and women on death row across the country. Grassroots activists throughout the USA play an essential role in advocating against this human rights violation through monitoring cases, mobilizing around upcoming events, and lobbying for anti-death penalty legislation.
