Action Toolbox
Are you a member of Amnesty International?
More than 80% of AI’s budget comes from individual contributions like your membership dues. So when it comes time to send a research team to Iraq, Afghanistan or Chad, and then publish the reports, or send our representatives to the UN, you help pay the bills. A basic membership costs $25 a year. If you are a student or have a limited income, membership costs only $15 per year – about the same as a CD or pizza.
Basically, it’s a real bargain for a full year of decision-making power and your personal share of the world’s largest human rights organization. And if that weren’t enough, you also get a one-year subscription to AIUSA’s excellent quarterly magazine, which keeps you up to speed with the world of human rights. Join now »

General Event Tips
- Wrap up with an action. Be sure that your film screening and discussion wraps up with an action in support of the ICC investigation in Darfur.
- Encourage participants to share what they’ve learned and encourage others to take action for justice in Darfur.
- It is important to have sign-in sheets at every event. Download a sample sign-in sheet. Sign in everyone who attends your events by posting someone at the door, or have members circulate in the crowd with clipboards at street theatre, vigils, group meetings, and letter-writing events.
- Follow-Up with newcomers. Be sure to invite them to your next Darfur event.
