Recent allegations of torture and ill-treatment by Coalition forces and by civilians employed by private contractors in Iraqi prisons echo the frequent reports of human rights violations that Amnesty International has received over the past year.
Amnesty International is saddened and outraged that Rev. Joseph Dantica has died in detention in Florida. The 81-year old minister arrived legally in Miami in October 2004. He had fled Haiti after death threats from Haitian gang members. In Miami, Rev. Dantica asked for asylum and was put into detention.
